My Ghost Party Quilt: A Year in the Making! 🎃👻

My Ghost Party Quilt: A Year in the Making! 🎃👻

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of finishing a quilt, especially one as special as my Ghost Party quilt! I started this project a year ago, and let me tell you, it has been worth every single stitch. Just in time for Halloween, I finally got it done—and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!

PATTERN: GHOST PARTY QUILT BY WOOLYPETALS

This quilt has been a labor of love, from choosing the fabrics to deciding on the finishing touches. I used all fabrics from my local quilt shop (shoutout to local quilt shops for always having the best finds!). For the quilt top, I went with a mix of some of my favorite Halloween-themed collections: Too Cute to Spook by Moda Fabrics, Late October from Sweetwater, and Holiday Essentials Halloween by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics. The playful prints of ghosts, bats, and pumpkins were the perfect choice to bring this quilt to life.

For the backing, I chose Hometown Halloween from Kimberbell Designs. I love how it ties everything together with a festive, yet cozy, feel. The prints on the backing are just as fun as the front, and it really adds that extra charm when you flip the quilt over.

One of my favorite details is the ghost eyes—I decided to applique them after piecing the quilt top. Originally, I planned to do something a bit more structured, but at the last minute, I opted for raw-edge applique to give them a spookier, worn-in look. It was the perfect choice! The frayed edges really enhance that eerie ghostly vibe, making them seem like they’re floating off the quilt. 👁️👁️

Another big decision was to have the quilt longarm quilted. While I love the process of quilting by hand or on my machine, I knew I wanted this to be an heirloom piece—something that would last for years and years. The longarm quilting added a gorgeous level of texture and detail. The quilting design complements the ghost shapes so well, and it’s super durable. I can already imagine pulling this quilt out every Halloween and snuggling up with it while watching spooky movies or handing out candy.

Speaking of which, if you’re looking for a great Halloween movie recommendation to go along with your quilt-making, my favourite movie of all time is Halloween Town🍂🕸️

Now that I’ve finished the quilt, I’m already thinking of ways to use up the leftover fabric. Matching ghost-themed pillows might just be the next thing on my list! How cute would it be to have a whole spooky set? Maybe even a table runner or some mini quilts to really deck out my home for Halloween. There are just too many fun ideas when it comes to holiday quilting!

Halloween has always been my favorite time of year—the decorations, the costumes, the crisp fall air, and now this quilt to complete the picture. I love that I’ll be able to enjoy it for many years to come, and maybe even pass it down one day. There’s something so special about creating these handmade pieces that become a part of your family’s story.

I’m so happy with how my Ghost Party quilt turned out, and I can’t wait to start using it right away. It’s such a playful, cozy piece that captures the spirit of Halloween, and it makes all the time I spent on it so worth it. Whether it's draped over the couch, on display during Halloween gatherings, or keeping me warm while watching horror movies, this quilt will always remind me of my favorite season.

What’s next? 🎃

I’m always on the lookout for new quilting projects! I’d love to hear your suggestions—do you have a favorite Halloween-themed quilt pattern? Should I make more spooky ghosts, or maybe venture into pumpkins and witches? Drop your ideas in the comments, and let’s get inspired together!

Until then, happy quilting, and have a spook-tacular Halloween! 🎃👻
